"Arzu" anlamına gelen Çince terim.
Sadece cinsel objelere veya birtakım yiyecek ve içeceklere arzu (yu) duyulmadığını, fakat erdemli bir kimse olmak için de yoğun bir istek beslenebileceğini öne süren klasik felsefe okullarında yu "istikrah", "uzak durma","tiksinti" veya "nefret" anlamına gelen wu ile birlikte temel kavram çiftlerinden birini oluşturmaktaydı. Özellikle Budizmin Çin'e girişinden sonra, birçok Çinli düşünür moral olgunluğun, ahlaki kemalin en önemli göstergesinin yu ve wu'nun yokluğu olduğunu öne sürmüştür.
