Kendisinde eski ve yeni fikirlerle, bilimsel ve büyüyle ilgili düşüncelerin aynı şekilde garip bir karışımıyla karşılaştığımız bir diğer doğa filozofu da Tommaso Campanella’dır (1568-1639). Campanella, toplumun Platon’un Devlet’ini akla getiren hümanist düzenlenişiyle ortaya çıktığı Güneş Ülkesi (Civitas Solis) adlı ütopyasında belli olduğu üzere, siyaset felsefesinde Papanın manevi, İspanya monarşisinin de maddi veya dünyevi liderliği altında gerçekleştirilmesini umut ettiği evrensel bir hiyerarşinin savunuculuğunu yapmıştır.
